A US food label has several moving parts: a Nutrition Facts panel, an allergen declaration, an ingredient list, and the supporting product information. Most small producers assemble these from different sources — a generator for the panel, a spreadsheet for allergens, a template for the rest. FoodCore is US food labeling software that brings them into one place, built from the recipe data you already maintain.

Set your Compliance Region to United States and FoodCore gives you an FDA-format Nutrition Facts panel, a FALCPA Big 9 Contains: statement with allergens bolded, and an ingredient list, plus a label designer that supports the standard fields: full ingredient list, business name/address/contact, batch code, country of origin, best-before/use-by, storage instructions and net weight. As a FDA food label maker for small producers, it covers the whole label from one screen.

An honest note on the label fields. The designer is flexible, but it does not auto-enforce certain things you are responsible for checking: it does not automatically order the ingredient list by descending weight, it does not automatically generate dual metric + US-customary net-quantity fields, and it does not auto-insert “Distributed by” / “Manufactured for” wording. You can enter all of these, but you should review them against FDA requirements. We would rather set that expectation clearly than imply more automation than exists.

Everything here is configured by the single Compliance Region setting on the US compliance software hub, and you can compare the US and UK regimes in our FDA vs UK labeling comparison.

The three pieces of a US label

FoodCore generates each from your recipe data.

FDA Nutrition Facts

An FDA-format panel with a % Daily Value column (21 CFR 101.9), Trans Fat, Cholesterol and Added Sugars, servings per container and the 2,000-calorie footnote. Standard rounding, not FDA incremental rounding. See FDA label software.

FALCPA Big 9 allergens

A Contains: statement listing the Big 9 (incl. sesame) with allergens bolded and US terms applied automatically. See FALCPA allergen labeling software.

Ingredient list & label fields

A full ingredient list plus the standard product fields, in a label designer you print from FoodCore — no separate template tool.

Standard label fields the designer supports

Build a complete product label, then print it.

Full ingredient list
Built from the recipe, including sub-recipe components.
Business name, address & contact
Your food business details for the label.
Batch code
Identify production runs for traceability.
Country of origin
State where the product is made.
Best-before / use-by
Date marking for the product.
Storage instructions
How the product should be kept.
Net weight
Quantity of product in the pack.
FALCPA Big 9 Contains: statement
Allergens bolded, US terms applied automatically.

What it does not auto-enforce: the designer does not automatically order ingredients by descending weight, does not auto-generate dual metric + US net-quantity fields, and does not auto-insert “Distributed by” / “Manufactured for” wording. Enter and review these against FDA requirements yourself.

Common questions

What does FoodCore put on a US food label?

On US accounts FoodCore brings together an FDA-format Nutrition Facts panel, a FALCPA Big 9 Contains: statement with allergens bolded, and your ingredient list, plus the standard label fields its designer supports: full ingredient list, business name/address/contact, batch code, country of origin, best-before/use-by, storage instructions and net weight.

Does it generate an FDA Nutrition Facts panel?

Yes — an FDA-format Nutrition Facts panel with a % Daily Value column based on 21 CFR 101.9, including Trans Fat, Cholesterol and Added Sugars, servings per container and the 2,000-calorie footnote. It uses standard rounding rather than the FDA's exact incremental rounding rules. Full detail is on our FDA Nutrition Facts label software page.

Which allergens does it declare?

The FALCPA/FASTER Act Big 9: Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean Shellfish, Tree Nuts, Peanuts, Wheat, Soybeans and Sesame, presented as a Contains: statement with allergens bolded and US terminology applied automatically. See our FALCPA allergen labeling software page.

What does FoodCore NOT do automatically on the label?

To be clear: the label designer does not auto-enforce ingredient descending-weight order, it does not automatically produce dual metric and US-customary net-quantity fields, and it does not auto-insert Distributed by / Manufactured for wording. You can enter these details, but you should review them against FDA requirements yourself — we would rather be honest than over-claim.

Can I include batch code, country of origin and storage?

Yes. The label designer supports a full ingredient list, business name/address and contact, batch code, country of origin, best-before/use-by date, storage instructions and net weight, so you can build a complete product label.

Does it support US units?

Yes. On US accounts FoodCore works in ounces (oz), pounds (lb) and fluid ounces (fl oz) alongside metric, with accurate conversions (1 oz = 28.3495 g, 1 lb = 453.592 g, 1 fl oz = 29.5735 ml), and costing is in USD.

How much does it cost?

FoodCore Essentials is $19/mo equivalent (£19) and Core is £55/mo, both with a 7-day free trial and no card required. Sign up at signup.foodcore.io.
