Delete your FoodCore account

You can delete your FoodCore login, or close your business’s FoodCore, at any time. Do it in the app, or email us. This page explains both, and what is deleted and when.

Two ways to delete

In the FoodCore app
  1. Open the app and sign in.
  2. Tap More, then Settings.
  3. Tap Delete account at the bottom.
  4. Follow the steps on screen.

You will also find Delete account at the foot of the More tab.

By email

Email info@foodcore.io from the address you sign in with. Tell us:

  • your name and your business’s name;
  • whether you want to delete just your login or close the business’s FoodCore.

We reply within one working day, and we confirm with you before anything is deleted.

What happens depends on who you are

If you work for a business that uses FoodCore

Your login belongs to your employer’s FoodCore. When you delete it:

  • it stops working straight away, on the web and on every phone and tablet;
  • anything FoodCore kept on your phone is wiped the next time the app connects;
  • the business’s recipes and records stay with the business. That includes food-safety checks you recorded: the business must keep them to show an inspector, and it decides how long to keep them.

To come back, the owner of the account invites you again. If you want something about you removed from the business’s records, ask the business first; it is in charge of that data. You can also email us and we will help.

If you own the business’s FoodCore

Closing your account closes FoodCore for everyone at your business, so we do it with you:

  1. Take a copy of your data first. On the web, go to Settings → Your data. You get your recipes, ingredients, allergens, records and more as plain files. Keep your food-safety records: you may need them for an inspection.
  2. Ask us to close it, in the app or by email. We confirm with you before anything is deleted.
  3. Your subscription ends at the end of the period you have already paid for. You are not charged again.
  4. Your FoodCore is then paused, kept for a set time, and permanently deleted — on the web and on every device. The times are below.

Only want to leave and keep the business running? Hand ownership to another admin under Users on the web first, then delete your own login.

If you are on a free trial

We pause the trial now. It is then kept for the time below and permanently deleted.

If you use FoodCore Free in the app

FoodCore Free keeps your recipes on your phone only. Deleting your account in the app removes them from the phone straight away, and removes your email address from our records if you gave us one. We never had a copy of your recipes, so we cannot get them back.

If you are on the app waitlist

Use the removal link in any email from the list, or email us. Your entry is deleted.

How long a closed account is kept

After a business’s FoodCore is paused, we keep it for a while in case you change your mind and so you can still take a copy of your data. Then it is permanently deleted.

Account Kept after pausing, then deleted
Has ever paid for a subscription90 days
Free trial that was used30 days
Free trial that was barely used7 days
  • We email you the date: “kept N days from today, then permanently deleted”.
  • Until then you can ask for a copy of your data by email, once a day, from the “Email me my data” link in our emails.
  • If you come back before the date, everything is as you left it, and the clock starts again if you pause later.
  • Once it is deleted, it is gone for you. We cannot restore it or send you a copy.

What we keep after deletion, and why

  • A short-lived internal safety copy. For seven days after deletion we hold a copy, only so we can put things right if we deleted something by mistake. It is never given to anyone, you included, and it is then deleted.
  • Billing and tax records. Invoices and payment records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires (normally six years). Card details are held by our payment provider, Stripe, never by us.
  • A small record to stop repeat free trials. The email address, business name and sign-up details used to start a trial, so each business gets one free trial.
  • An unsubscribe record, if you had our newsletter: your email address only, so we never email you again by mistake.

The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, sections 14 to 16. You can also ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
