Paprika is one of the best consumer recipe managers available and costs a fraction of any business tool. If you are choosing between them, the question is not which is better — it is whether you sell what you make.

What Paprika does better
Web capture, straightforwardly. Paprika pulls a recipe off almost any page, strips the surrounding story and keeps ingredients and method structured. FoodCore has nothing equivalent, because a business enters ingredients as priced records rather than importing text.
It is also far cheaper, works offline well, and is genuinely pleasant to cook from. For home use it is the better product and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Where it cannot help a business
Paprika stores “200g plain flour” as text. There is no pack size, no price, no supplier and no allergen field, because a home cook needs none of those. The consequence is that Paprika cannot tell you what a product costs, cannot maintain an allergen profile, and cannot produce a label.

A sensible progression
- Cooking at home → Paprika.
- Selling occasionally → Paprika plus our free recipe cost calculator.
- Selling regularly, pre-packed → business software for the products you sell. Keep Paprika for everything else.
Most people who move over keep both, because the set of things you sell is much smaller than the set of things you cook.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import my Paprika recipes into FoodCore? There is no direct import. In practice you re-enter the products you sell, which is usually 15–30 items rather than hundreds.
Is Paprika enough for a small cake business? Only if you never pre-pack. The moment you box a cake before the customer chooses it, you need a compliant label Paprika cannot produce.
