Bolt-ons: Add One Feature, Not a Whole Plan
Every few weeks someone tells us they would love one feature from the plan above, and only that one. Moving up a whole plan for it never felt right. So now you can add a single feature to the plan you already have, from £3 a month, on the same invoice.
Most of our customers are on Essentials or Growth, and most of them are happy there. But every few weeks someone tells us the same thing: they would love one feature from the plan above, and only that one. A second login for the person who helps on Saturdays. The food safety checks before an inspection. A cost calculator for pricing the Christmas range. Moving up a whole plan for one feature never felt right, to them or to us.
So you can now add a single feature to the plan you already have. We call them bolt-ons.
How it works
- In FoodCore, open Support, choose the Bolt-on topic and pick the feature you want. There is a short pre-written message; add anything you like to it.
- We switch it on for you and reply in the chat, usually the same day.
- It appears on your normal FoodCore invoice. There is nothing separate to set up or pay.
There is no self-service checkout for this on purpose. A quick conversation means we can tell you if a feature needs another one to be useful, and make sure you are not paying for something your plan already includes.
What you can add
Prices below are the whole price — nothing is added at checkout. Annual is ten months, the same as your plan.
Features from the Growth plan
Features from the Core plan
Growth customers can add any Core feature. Essentials customers can add any of them. Features your plan already includes are not offered, so nobody pays twice.
How the money works
When we add a bolt-on part-way through your billing period, you pay only for the days left in it, charged straight away to your usual payment method. From your next renewal the bolt-on joins your plan on the same invoice — one payment, as now.
An example. Your plan renews on the 10th of each month and you ask for Team logins on the 1st. Nine days of the month are left, so you pay £3 on the 1st. On the 10th your invoice is £35 — your £25 plan plus the £10 bolt-on — and it stays £35 a month after that.
Annual customers work the same way against the annual price, prorated for the days left in your year. The full billing terms are in clause 4.10 of our terms of service.
Changing your mind
Tell us in Support and we will remove the bolt-on at the end of the period you have paid for. You keep using it until then. We do not refund part-periods, so there is no advantage to removing it early.
If you later move up to a plan that includes the feature, the bolt-on comes off automatically at the same moment. If you move down a plan, your bolt-ons stay.
When is a plan the better deal?
Two bolt-ons is usually fine. At three, the plan above is often cheaper and gives you everything else in it too.
We will say so when you ask. We would rather move you to a plan that costs us less to support than take £2 a month more for a worse arrangement.
Not on a trial
Trials already include every feature for seven days, so there is nothing to add. Bolt-ons are for paid accounts. If you are still deciding, start the trial and see the whole product first.
A note on VAT
FoodCore.io Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to any price on this page or anywhere else on the site. The number you see is the number that leaves your account. If you are VAT registered yourself, there is no input VAT on a FoodCore invoice to reclaim — the ordinary position when buying from an unregistered supplier.
Frequently asked questions
Do some bolt-ons need others? Yes. Wholesale price lists, online shop sync and card payment links all work through Orders & collections, so they need it. We will tell you when you ask.
Where do I see my bolt-ons? Settings → Billing, under “Added to your plan”.
Does a bolt-on include AI checks? AI checks stay with your plan — 20, 50 or 100 a month. Top-ups are available if you need more. Stock control’s delivery-note scanning uses your existing allowance.
What if you cannot switch it on? If the feature cannot be enabled after a charge has been taken, the charge is credited back in full, automatically.
